The inaugural joint conference of ALANZ and ALAA took place in Auckland in 2009, aiming to foster collaboration and idea-sharing among applied linguists from New Zealand and Australia. Following its success, subsequent conferences were held in Canberra in 2011 and Wellington in 2013, where ALTAANZ joined the collaboration. The series continued with gatherings in Adelaide (2015), Auckland (2017), and Perth (2019), leading to the upcoming return to Wellington in 2021.
Additionally, the 2021 event will feature Vocab@Vic alongside the ALANZ-ALAA-ALTAANZ conference. Furthermore, Victoria University is proud to organize SSU4, the fourth International Conference on Situating Strategy Use, in 2021.
